THIS IS NOT A HANDS-ON INTERNSHIP. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO USE ANY EQUIPMENT AT WABC.
Internship positions are offered in the following areas:
Assignment Desk: Interns assist the assignment desk editors in monitoring the latest happenings throughout the city, researching and compiling data needed to determine reporters' assignments.
Education: Intern will assist reporter Celeste Ford and research and develop stories regarding educational issue of all types with an emphasis in NYC. Some background in education preferred.
Medical Unit with Dr. Jay Adlersberg: Intern will assist Dr. Adlersberg in researching topics and will gain experience producing, field, studio and post-production techniques.
7 On Your Side: This is the consumer segment of Eyewitness News. Internship required heavy phone work, research, and excellent phone and organizational skills. Should also be interested in helping people.
Investigative Unit: Interns learn all aspects of investigative journalism from developing stories and contacts to writing and observing the editing process.
Sports Department: Interns are responsible for coordinating video footage of sports highlights. Students gain knowledge in studio and post-production techniques. May have an opportunity to go out into the field.
Planning Unit: Interns work closely with producers of special reports and advanced planning in developing research and setting up interviews for day-to-day coverage and special reports. Students gain knowledge and expertise in long and short-term news planning.
