An internship at The Montel Williams Show is designed to train the intern in all facets of a television show. It is an excellent way for students to develop contacts, references and future jobs - this is what the producers are promising us. They do demand a certain amount of office work such as faxing but they do also allow for other experiences as well.

The Production Office - duties include:
*reading, sorting and responding to viewer mail
*assisting staff members with various aspects of production
*log and pull appropriate tapes when needed
*assist The Montel Williams MS Foundation with mailings and/or fundraising events
*faxing, filing answering phones
*assist news producer by monitoring breaking news stories
*research story ideas as directed by the production team

Audience Department
The show tapes 3 shows a day, usually on Wednesday and Thursday. Interns are involved with all aspects of taping. They assist the Production Assistants:
*with paper work, floor cards, etc
*assisting guests, bringing them to makeup
*all production duties

Studio
*attend to show guests in the green rooms
*assist production assistants with paperwork, floor cards and ushering guests
*run errands as needed
*observe live tapings from the control room

Field Department
*accompany field producer and camera operator on re-enactments or field shoots around the city
*ensure completion of releases and appropriate paperwork for field shoots

Time Commitment
Students must receive credit from their university in order to participate. The time requirement is twelve-sixteen hours a week (extra hours are optional).
