TV production / Bronx - Westchester
Interns receive hands-on experience at a full broadcast and production facility run by the Archdiocese of New York. Unlike typical network experiences, ITV is small enough that students become a working part of the staff and work on actual productions in a variety of roles. Past interns have done everything from camera operation to coordinating the studio during productions, to post-production editing.
Interns spend an initial period observing productions in progress and studio activities. With instruction in the operation of studio equipment, interns gradually step into production roles. Responsibilities include:
Crew Assignments (studio and location): Camera operation; audio; lighting assistant; cue cards; electronic graphics; production assistant; stage manager. Set-up and breakdown of set for production. Audio set-up and breakdown.
Television Programming and Utilization: Interns in this area learn about programming, scheduling, classroom use, course content, new trends, technical problems, and the future of educational television.
Television Engineering: Interns with technical experience or interest spend a certain amount of time with the engineering staff and receive training in switching, videotape loading and video tape operation.
Numerous interns have gone on to full-time paid positions at ITV and other production facilities.
Applicants must have had some production experience (in class, student crew or TV Club).
Interns are wanted 2 days a weeks.
