During the summers of 2000 and 2001, I worked with the St. John's Professors Elise Megehee, Anne Dranginis, Rich Rosso and Frank Cantelmo creating and running the Summer Science Experience for ninth grade girls and boys at the Oakdale campus of St. John's University. Under an earmarked grant from the U.S. Dept. of Education, we all had a wonderful time exposing our participating students to the wonders of science. Important scientists from Long Island and the tri-state area came to the beautiful Oakdale campus on the water and helped us energize the students.
